15.11.17  Anik Péloquin Architect: The Sisters

The Sisters, designed by Anik Péloquin Architecte, consists of the extension of an old rural building recluse in the Quebec forest (Canada). Wood-clad, the building blends in its green environment despite a prominent roof with the air of steeple, which refers to the religious past of the site.

15.11.17  A + A Cooren and David de Gourcuff: Tiss-Tiss

Since now almost 20 years, the Liliane Bettencourt Award for the intelligence of the hand rewards the expertise of French creative professionals and crafts. One of the three awards presented on this occasion, "Dialogue", rewards a collaboration between a designer and a craftsman. Back on the association of founder David de Gourcuff and studio A + A Cooren, awarded last month for his Tiss-Tiss chair.

14.11.17  Dorte Mandrup: Center d'accueil de la mer des Wadden

Since last February, the Wadden Sea Visitor Center (Denmark) has been welcoming ornithologists and nature lovers. Produced on a UNESCO World Heritage site by a local child, Dorte Mandrup, this geometric, butted, geometric colossus, is governed by a key word: "respect", whether it be local architecture, landscape, fauna or flora.

In the residential Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans (United States), the American agency Nicole Cota Studio realizes the development of an old motel built in the 1950 years: the Hotel Drifter. The project is eclectic in style, mixing wood, raw concrete and colorful tiles in an atmosphere full of vitality, a nod to the sixties.

14.11.17  Event: While We Wait

Produced by the OMA agency, the Concrete building at Alserkal Avenue in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), hosts until November 18 an immersive installation: While We Wait. Designed by Palestinian architects and designers Elias and Yousef Anastas, this sculptural and audiovisual work pays tribute to their homeland.

In the new district of the peninsula of Malraux in Strasbourg (67), freshly renovated, the OKKO Hotel, an integral part of the real estate program of three Black Swans towers delivered this year and imagined by Anne Demians. 13.11.17  PERIPHERALS Architects and Terreal: Residence and restaurant Coallia

Draped in her clothes of light, the social residence Coallia of the rue de Lorraine, in Paris (19e), offers a spectacle as striking as that of the sea whose color and sparkle change depending on the sky. What better playground for an organizer than the famous hutongs of Beijing (China), these traditional narrow and labyrinthine lanes that teem with activities? Zhang Ke, from the ZAO / Standardarchitecture group, is experimenting in one of these special neighborhoods, the paradoxical notions of intimacy and sharing, in a strange construction with salient volumes.

10.11.17  Wright & Wright Architects : Longwall Library

More than 160 years after its construction, the longwall library of Magdalen College, part of the prestigious institution of the University of Oxford, is getting a makeover. Designed by the English firm Wright & Wright Architects, the extension and renovation of the old Victorian building includes two new wings upgrading the cloister they plant.

On the occasion of the Puces du Design in Paris (15e), the Les Écoliers collective presents its very first object: the L1 lamp. Designed entirely by hand, using the Synapses Workshops, the wood and paper luminaire offers a simple and intriguing geometry.

09.11.17  Bez + Kock Architects: Anneliese Brost Music Forum

It is in the municipality of Bochum (Germany), not far from Düsseldorf, that the Bez + Kock Architekten agency is renovating an old Neo-Gothic church now embellished with two new wings. Germany, the motherland of classical music, hosts two concert halls dedicated to the genre, which make their acclaim in musical compositions that have made the country's glory.

How did you imagine your home being small? This is the question that the architects of the Portuguese agency Filipe Saraiva Arquitectos asked themselves to erect a large house in Ourém (Portugal). The project thus materializes the child's representation of the house, composed of a rectangle surmounted by a triangle.

Four years after the terrible earthquake that hit the Sichuan region (China), Rural Urban Framework, a group of research and collaborative design, imagines alternative solutions for the reconstruction of destroyed villages. In Jintai, the association is trying to recreate the local way of life in a covered hall and growing areas on the roofs of 26 dwellings.
